Why ‘Rambling Feet’?

I like to explore places on foot and talk a bit too much at inappropriate times, hence the title of this blog. I have a knack for remembering things, so I thought I’d put it to good use by sharing my experiences here. These are my stories of following my budget, travelling on a budget and making friends on the road.

What’s so different about your blog?

I’ve been travelling independently on a budget since the age of 20. While my experiences are not 100% replicable, they are not beyond the means of the average person either! It’s all about making smart choices and knowing what you’re doing. I have not invested in an SLR camera, and all my photographs were taken with a point-and-shoot camera or a smartphone.

The countries that I know best are Singapore (of course), New Zealand, Poland, Estonia, Finland and Latvia, so I have more articles about these countries. Friends and followers alike have found my tips for the aforementioned countries useful.

In addition, I’m a motorsports freak and there are posts about going to racing events – Formula 1 (especially in Singapore), MotoGP and rallying are categories that I follow avidly. I’ll also talk about go-karting and sightseeing on wheels.

Most of all, what you’ll find here are honest stories about cities, attractions and people that I longed to visit. They are my personal accounts or the stories of people I have met in real life.

What have been the highlights of your travels?

I’ve been to massive festivals like Ligo and Gentse Feesten. I went on a road trip through New Zealand in my own car and worked there. I came face-to-face with great white sharks, dolphins, sea lions and coral reefs. I have seen extraordinary landscapes and architectural marvels. I met my idols in the music arena and racing world.

Along the way, I have made countless friends and acquaintances, and I have been a Couchsurfing guest in the homes of many ordinary but generous locals. I’ve witnessed the power of the human spirit to both destroy and create good. And I hope to communicate the thrill of these moments in writing.
